Yngve Ekström (1913-1988) was a Swedish designer and cabinetmaker, self-taught in art and design, influenced by his woodworking father. In 1945 he founded the company ESE-möbler, which later became Swedese, focusing on functional and ergonomic furniture. His most famous work is the Lamino (1956), recognised as a Scandinavian design classic and still in production. Ekström experimented with plywood and assembly techniques, creating innovative furniture that was exported internationally. His designs are exhibited in museums in Sweden, London and Japan, establishing him as a benchmark of modern furniture.
