Jacques Adnet (1900-1984) was a key French Art Deco designer known for his elegant and functional style; he studied at the École des Arts Décoratifs and was noted for his use of materials such as leather, glass and metal. He directed the Compagnie des Arts Français from 1928, where he promoted modern design and collaborated with brands such as Hermès, as well as decorating official spaces in France. His work marked 20th century design for its sobriety, innovation and discreet luxury.
