Vallauris ceramic fondue pot by Robert Picault. With RP signature on the base. France, 1970.
Robert Picault, a renowned ceramist active in the 20th century, marked his era with his unique ceramic creations, including the famous fondue pot. Specialising in culinary tableware, Picault innovated by developing his own alkifoux, a distinctive mixture of lead sulphide and sand. Inspired by the Muslim Middle Ages, his style is distinguished by geometric motifs, executed in blue, manganese and the emblematic shades of green. His collaboration with artists such as Picasso and Roger Capron enriched his work. The collector's items, signed "Picault", bear witness to his exceptional know-how, while the industrial creations can be recognised by the monogram "rp" after his departure.
